What is Advantage One?
Advantage One Credit Union has served the Downriver community since 1952. Our commitment to providing superior member service and quality financial products has remained our prime focus over the years, even as we've added branches and expanded our operations to new communities.
It's important to note that we're a credit union and not a bank. Banks are owned by groups of stockholders whose interests include earning a healthy return on their investments. A credit union is a cooperative financial institution, owned and controlled by the people who use its services. These people are members.
Credit unions serve groups that share something in common, such as where they work, live, or worship. Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist solely to provide a safe, convenient place for members to save money and to get loans at reasonable rates.
So what's that mean for Advantage One? Because we're not looking to make a profit, we can offer higher returns on savings accounts and lower rates on loans. It also means that, through volunteer efforts and monetary donations, we commit considerable resources to our local communities.
